Farmington, NM: If you haven't attended the Aztec Warrior in recent years, you may be in for a surprise. The tournament that offers, Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco reached 1800 wrestlers last year and was a complete sell out. "You hate telling people we don't have room left in the tournament after they drive for over 6-hours," Said, Adam Gutierrez. The tournament has hit a nerve in the area that is so rich in wrestling tradition.
17-18 mats are laid out and the crowd reaches 5,000 over the 2-day event. Trophies for 1st - 3rd with medals for 4th - 6th place and custom medals for Freestyle and Greco.
This year the tournament will boast high profile and an excellent officiating staff from numerous states. Josh Gutierrez, Director of Operations, mentioned, "It was a challenge to find officials in that area when we first started 5-years ago, however, we hired Bill Barron to take on the head official position and that challenge ceased." The RMN Events are filled with top officials for each of their events months ahead of schedule. "We are fortunate to have the top officials that want to come work our events, Said Josh Gutierrez. He added, "That entire situation is great to see when referees reach out to us up to 12 months in advance now"
