STATE DUAL MEET CHAMPIONSHIP BRACKETS

DIVISION I

DIVISION II

DIVISION III

The 2017 Ohio High School Athletic Association State Dual Meet Championship will once again return to the state's capitol in Columbus Ohio at historic St. John's Arena on February 12.

Eight teams from each of the three divisions will be vying for the opportunity to bring home a state championship.

Division II once again appears to be a mere formality with the all-star team that is St. Paris Graham, even despite the absence of state champions Mitch Moore and Rocky Jordan.  Look for the winner of Wauseon and Carrollton to meet up with the Falcons in the finals.

In Division III it looks to be the Mechanicsburg Indians to bring home their first state dual meet state championship with a superstar powered like up with the likes of Romero, Yinger, Smith, Rhine, Wetzel and company.  Look for Oak Harbor to be the only team with enough depth to remotely challenge Coach Doggett's Indians.

Two weeks ago we would have said(and we did) that St.  Edward would run away with the Division I Championship again this season, but an unexpected loss to LaSalle on January 28 makes the division more interesting this year.  St. Edward has been battling injuries in the likes of Hepner, Dover, Carpenter and others.  Dover and Hepner are back for the Eagles but showed signs on rust in the conditionally in the regional finals.  If Coach Urbas's Eagles are all in the line-up then St. Edward will once again claim another state championship in the storied history dating back to 1977.

Mason and Brecksville should be a back and forth battle for the right to meet St. Edward in the semi-finals.  Look for Haverdill's Bees to show their experience at the state duals to edge out the Comets.

Another huge first round clash will be the LaSalle Lancers versus Coach Carr's Perry Panthers.  Perry has more then enough fire power in bonus points to take out LaSalle in the quarter-finals.

Elyria looks to be hitting on all cylinders with a healthy Fenton and Price back in the line-up.  Look a repeat of the 2016 final between St. Edward and Elyria.

On paper the match-up looks like this.
